Work In Progress – Dark World Poem

All around
Is quiet.
Close, quiet dark.
Thick and soft
Nothing but this space.
Meanwhile in the world
Everyone is staring.
No one is seeing.
Catatonic Industrial Institution
Send out for HELP.
Caustic tears
Closing fears
Eroding the spirit of love.
The world she asks
You to compromise yourself daily
In a thousand tiny moves.
You aren’t even begging anymore.
Life exaltation
Spitting on the fire
Sizzle sounds.
In the burn
We churn.
Don’t look at the cops kicking kids.
Set your brain on cruise control
With a flick of the remote.
It’s obvious we’re human.
Or is it?
The world is happening
And you’re asleep.
