It’s rainy. Not letting up. Cold. A good day for cookies if you ask me.
I decided to bake these Spiced Molasses Cookies. They are simple to make. Delicious. And your house will smell great.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3/4 cup Vegetable Shortening
- 1/4 cup Molasses
- 1 whole Egg
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
- 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2-1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix Sugar, Shortening, Molasses, & Egg together until well combined.

Dump in all the dry ingredients, stirring them together lightly. Mix everything until the dough is totally combined.

Using your hands roll balls (about walnut size) out of the dough. Give each dough ball a good coating of granulated sugar before placing on a baking sheet.
Bake for 9-12 minutes….you know they are good to go when they are browned and cracks have formed.
Take them out of the oven and allow them to cool (or not- they’re good warm and chewy too)….they’ll become crisp.
Eat some and freeze some for later……HMMMMMMM!
Smells WONDERFUL
Happy cookie eating.
