Today was cool and sunny. It was a real nice day. My parents visited and we cooked hamburgers on our little charcoal grill.
The pecan trees are starting to drop their bounty. Picked up 6 lbs of nuts (technically they’re a drupe). This is just the beginning. There are 15 pecan trees here. They’ll be a few hundred pounds if we harvest most of them. Fortunately, there’s a pecan business in the small town near us where we can get them mechanically shelled. I don’t want to shell 200lbs or more by hand! We’ll store them in the freezer for use in all sorts of cooking….not to mention just eating straight up.
