Mint Tea Among Other Things

Today was a  golden day.  Sunshine aplenty.  I wish I would’ve spent more time outdoors.  But I was busy working at online money earning endeavors.

This weekend a medium-sized town near us is having an annual city-wide rummage sale.  I go every year and score items that I can resale on evil-bay (eBay).  It’s always been worth my while and I’m looking forward to it.  We’ll probably hit up the grocery store to restock food before we leave town.

Making mint tea.

I grow several varieties of mint.  So easy to grow.  They like moist soil….but not soggy, and partial sun.  I clip fresh leaves and steep them in hot water for tea.  I also dry the leaves and eat them straight off the plant.

Mint has many beneficial properties:

  •  it’s antiseptic
  • freshens breath
  •  relieves nausea and upset stomach
  • soothing for sore throats and relief from sinus issues
  • good for asthma and respiratory problems
  • studies have shown enzymes in mint combat cancer
  • the oil rubbed on the forehead offers relief from headaches
  • Soothes itchy skin

In other news…..

We’re getting ready to build shelves for the pantry at the straw bale house. This project has been in the casual planning mode for a few weeks.  Purpose built shelves will be nice.  Up till now we’ve been making due with a small freestanding shelf unit and a folding table.  Lots of stuff stacked on the floor next to walls.  It’ll be good to get everything up on shelves.
